How to troubleshoot error code 1225 for card reader ?
Sometimes, especially after the first configuration of ATM, the card reader seems to stop work, there is no response from it, the error 1225 is displayed on the diagnostic unit or printed on the journal. The reason is wrong with the type of card reader. If this occurs, please re-configure the type of card reader by using the first page ‘Atmapp’ of YDCConfiguraion.exe.
Sometimes ATM stays online, but cardholder’s transaction is fail. In that case, the following are some of the possible reasons:
1)If PIN error or encryption error, check the encryption key setting, by re-input the correct communication key and master key; check the pin block type, by running application YDCConfiguration. Normally, that is a logical error.
2)If cash withdrawal fail, check the switching to see the status of the ATM. Run application YDCConfiguration, check the denomination setting of the ATM, make sure the setting is correct. Check the cassette to make sure the cassette is in valid state. Check theelectronic journal of that transaction, to see if any error occurs in dispenser module
3)If transaction aborts after customer input pin, not allow to select service menu. Then you should check the electronic journal of that transaction, to see if any error occurs. Normally it is related to hardware encryption module. If that happens often, consult your hardware professional.
1)The following description can only be applied for ATM withminimech dispenser.
2)Make clear the issue is shortage of cash or excess of cash
3)Check all the withdrawal transaction since the last replenish in the electronic journal one by one, take special notice of partial dispense or failure dispense, write down the counter one by one
4)Check all the withdrawal transaction since the last replenish in the switching system one by one, match each transaction with that in electronic journal, especially about reversal transaction, to see if any mistake.
4.Check the current IP setting by typing “ipconfig”
5.Ping itself by typing “ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.”, in the string “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” is the ATM IP address
6.If ping itself timeout, you should check network interface card and TCP/IP protocol installation
7.If ping itself working, ping gateway
8.If ping gateway timeout, you should check the physical cable and middle network device like hub from ATM to gateway, also you should check the gateway
9.If ping gateway working, ping switching system
10.If ping switching system timeout, you should check the physical cable and middle network device like hub from gateway to switching system, also you should check the switching system
11.If ping switching system working, you should check if the port of the switching system is ready for ATM, by typing “telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx pppp”, in the string “xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” is the IP address of switching system, “pppp” is the port number for ATM service.
12.If telnet failed, responding “can not open pppp port on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx”, that means the switching system is not ready
13.If telnet success, you can see the response data came from switching system on telnet terminal window, that means no problem with network.
14.If no problem with network, but the ATM stay offline, you should check the YDC network setting by running application YDCConfiguration. Check the network header type, check the IP and port setting .
In ATM system of the bank, you can find the following application protocols:
NDC (NCR Direct Connect)
NDC is ATM transaction processing protocol formulated by NCR company. Altogether it has three releases:
NDC RMX
50XX and 55XXATM series (The 3rd generation terminal)
NDCxa
50Xxxa (Expansion structure terminal)
NDC +
56XX (The 4th generation terminal)
The basic application module provided by NDC can be applied by distributing parameter values to customize the transaction module (status), define display screens and design acceptable card types and other configuration parameters.
lDIEBOLD 912
Diebold 912 is ATM transaction processing protocol designed by Diebold company.
lISO8583
ISO8583 is the message format manual recommended by ISO for the communication between the exchange center and Centrals of member banks.
An automatic teller machine or automated teller machine(ATM) is an electronic device that allows a bank's customers to make cash withdrawals and check their account balances without the need for a human teller. Many ATMs also allow people to deposit cash or cheques, transfer money between their bank accounts or even buy postage stamps.
Early cards were retained by the machine and worked on various principles including radiation and low-coercivity magnetism that was wiped by the card reader to make fraud more difficult.
Modern ATM banking was tested in New Zealand's Christchurch region before being rolled out elsewhere as a banking service.
In modern ATMs, customers identify themselves by using a plastic card with a magnetic stripe, which encodes the customer's account number, and by entering a four-digit pass-code called a PIN (Personal Identification Number), which in some cases may be changed using the machine. If the number is entered incorrectly several times in a row (with three attempts as the most common), most ATMs will retain the card as a security precaution to prevent an unauthorized user from working out the PIN by pure guesswork (it should be noted sometimes these cards are later on destroyed to prevent the bank staff from misusing them). Earliest versions accepted a single-use token or voucher, and the latest ATMs read and store customer
Most ATMs are connected to inter-bank networks, enabling people to withdraw and deposit money from machines not belonging to the bank where they have their account. This is a convenience, especially for people who are traveling: it is possible to make withdrawals in places where one's bank has no branches, and even to withdraw local currency in a foreign country, often at a better exchange rate than would be available by changing cash.
ATMs rely on authorization of a transaction by the card issuer or other authorizing institution via the communications network.
This course will introduce various principles of working of ATMs and explain the important functions in detail under the following topics
